Your Story is a Part of His Story.
Have you ever thought about how your story fits into God's overall story?
I have been reading through the Bible in 2020 and I immediately thought of two people that are a great example of God using them for his glory.
The one you may know, Moses. (if you haven’t read his story in Exodus 2 through Deuteronomy 32, do so.)
When we first meet Moses, he is born in a time of adversity. He was saved from the get-go. God planned on using him beyond what his mother could imagine. He was taken into the house of Pharaoh, later giving him leverage on saving God's chosen people.
We then see him struggle with who he is. He stood up for a Levite man knowing that was his heritage but fled because he had killed his Egyptian brother. Moses was not sure who he is. BUT God used that. He gave him time to escape and explore who he was. After a few years, God showed up and called him to something greater.
God called him to save His people (Moses people as well) from the Egyptians. See God knew Moses was perfect because He was a Levite but also an Egyptian. God uses Moses' uncertainty for good.
God used Moses for YEARS. After saving the Israelites from Pharaoh, He continued to use him to bring the Israelites to the promised land. It is evident in the number of books that Moses' story is strung across the bible.
Another man was Hosea. Most people do not talk about Hosea's story, it's one that is pretty rough but interesting in all terms.
We start with Hosea being told to go marry a prostitute by God. You read that right. Hoses was told to marry an adulterous woman and have children with her.
We continue to see that God then uses Hosea to help the Israelites understand that they cannot do life on their own, they need God.
I love what The Bible Study says about Hosea; "God loved the people of Israel unconditionally. They were his pride and joy even though they didn’t live it out. Instead of God using Hosea as a vessel to share his anger, God shared His love through a personal experience, which made a prophecy hit home even harder for Hosea.” (pg. 167)
- God used Hosea’s story as an example to the Israelites on how much He loved them.
- God uses Moses’s story as an example of using anyone (those that do not belong and those with disabilities) to do his work.
Both of these Biblical characters are great examples of God using them first for his Glory but then to further the plan God had for His people.
Moses came first saving the Israelites, and Hosea came years later to remind them of how much love God had for them, even now years later.
How do you think the trials and decisions that God has chosen for your life help further his kingdom? I want you really think about this. I believe that both Moses and Hosea probably question the ask God gave them. I would too, but they did it, and look where it brought the nation of Israel, to the promised land.
So, what has God ask of you that you may be questioning, and how will God use that decision/story to further His kingdom? He will use YOU if you are willing. I want to leave you with this verse that is found in the book of Hebrews particularly in the section of the Bible most people call the Hall of Faith, or Faith in Action.
Hebrews 11:27 “By faith he [Moses] left Egypt, not fearing the king’s anger; he preserved because he saw him who invisible.”
