As I bet most of us are in the same situation, confined to the walls of our house. As each passing day, there is something else that gets taken away and yet something new we have to learn and adapt to.

I feel like overwhelmed is an understatement. I don’t know about you but learning to work from home, not so bad… there have been a few hiccups like not wanting to do housework after work, or who has what meeting at what time. But overall it has been nice. I mean who doesn’t like working in their sweatpants! However, it has also been a HUGE learning curve. Everything is online and I would tell you before all this that I would consider myself tech-savvy… well boy was I wrong! It has been a learning curve let me tell you, and I bet most of you have felt it too. On Sunday morning; I was trying to switch to my ministry areas  Facebook account from my personal account (which you can do), to comment on a video. I got so frustrated and lost that I started to cry. I thought it should have been soo easy but yet I found it was so hard (more because I was overwhelmed than anything)

Here is what I am learning;

  1. It is okay to not be perfect at video content. Wither you’re a children’s pastor, teacher, fitness instructor or business leader. We are all learning; I promise you are not a YouTube star and if you are ( please keep encouraging us). It is okay to not be perfect just be us and TRY.
  2. Use who you are, your family and such to your advantage. Show your audience more about you. It will make you relatable but also help you to be more comfortable.
  3. Get items to help you! There are awesome teleprompter apps. Get yourself some great lighting. Maybe even a new mic. (if necessary) But if you can’t get one or even any of these items that is okay too! Do what you can with what you have!
  4. You are still a parent, wife, husband, and/or caregiver. Be that. Your family may need you now more than before. Yes, you still need to get your work done. But as far as creating new content, keeping up with all the teacher or children’s ministers do your best. I caution you, don’t fall too far behind. Yet, don’t neglect your family. Do what you can. Ask yourself "What is sustainable for your business and your family?"
  5. Adapt. Adapt. Adapt. Take time during your workday to research new social media. Learn how to use Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and dear I say it Tik Tok. That is where most of your students, clientele, and parents are spending their time. Learn it, use it, you will reach more people there!
  6. Look at the positives. Maybe this time is giving you more time with your kids or husband. Remember; You are meeting kids where they are. You are building your social media base. You are reaching new people! Think of how God is using your time and abilities.

It is okay to be overwhelmed. It is also okay to struggle and not know everything. Also; it is okay to be frustrated with learning something new. Just remember we are all in this together! No one is judging you! Keep your head up, and most importantly trust in what God is doing. It is hard in times of uncertainty to trust that this is part of God’s plan, but truly it is. He has a perfect plan that is beyond our control.

There is never a trial or hardship that is going to waste. God is using it and doing something bigger!
