Who Are You?
My mission is to help you learn who you are and why you matter.
We all know that we have a purpose in life, and I don’t know about you, but I have been, and in some ways always will be searching for what my purpose is.
Growing up and attending a private school, where you should be proficient in all your subjects, was tough for me. At a young age, I was diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia. I didn’t fit with the “normal” type of kids at my school. I was taken out of normal classes to be put into the slower learning classes. This was a huge struggle for me, as I saw myself as different and ashamed to be who I really was. As time passed, I worked hard on managing my ADHD and confronting my dyslexia. I still wasn’t sure who I was, and why I was made this way.
I also grew up in church, and I went every Sunday. I learned about how God made each unique and different, how we were made perfect in his eyes. I believed this truth in my heart, but I couldn’t understand why God would give me these disorders. In my times of struggle, I would simply just ask him “why?” I didn’t understand, and I never really got an answer until I was in college. I remember mentoring another girl who was struggling with her weight, and how she didn’t feel beautiful. She asked me: “Why would God make me this way?” I remember telling her that “God made you perfect for YOU. If you wanted you to be someone else, he would have made you that person”. It isn’t a new idea, but boy did I think I was brilliant after telling her this truth. After I finished counseling her I went back to my dorm. As I walked, I thought to myself… why am I not believing this same truth myself? From that point on, I went on a journey to learn who I was in God, and why he made me this way!
Now, I know that you may not struggle with ADHD or dyslexia, but I do know that we all struggle with why we were made the way we are. Why am I here? What is my purpose in life? What would God do with me?
- The first thing I want you to know is: You are strong. Incredibly strong, stronger than you may feel.
- Second is: God has a mission for you on this earth that no one else can do. You may never know what it is, but keep fighting to find it.
- Third: There is so much to gain in spending time to find out who you are in God. You will not only learn about yourself but the ones in your life as well.
We go through life seeking who we are. We search for the ultimate goal to have everything fit into this perfect mold. But what if we stop thinking “Who am I?” and rather thought: “God, who do you say I am?”
What if we lived every day with the strength He has given us, for the mission he has put us here on earth for?
What if we just went for it, and where do we start?
